Answer!
What states do you ship to?
Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
What states do you not ship to? Why?
We are currently unable to ship our wine to Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Michigan, Massachusetts, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, or Virginia. Each state has its own laws about shipping alcohol across state lines and/or permits and licenses required. Where permitted by law, we will apply for permits in states where there is an increased demand for our wines. As we receive these permits, we will update our shipping rates.
You don't ship to my state. How can I get your wine?
Please call us at(209)677-7721 or email us at contact@darrahwines.com and we will let you know if there is anything we can do to accommodate you.
Why is the price to ship to a residence more expensive than shipping to a business?
FedEx sets different rates for deliveries to residential areas than businesses to accommodate a gas surcharge for smaller trucks to deliver fewer packages to a single location. We offer you the ability to ship to your business address to save on shipping charges. In many cases, business locations have people over 21 years of age other than you on-site and available during business hours to sign for the shipment, making it more likely to receive your wine shipment on the first delivery attempt.
What are advantages of shipping to my business address?
If your business has a receptionist or mailroom where there will always be someone 21 or over years of age available to sign for the package during business hours, this can avoid any delays in your receiving your wine. Most FedEx packages are delivered during business hours Monday through Friday, so shipping to your business is a preferable option if someone 21 or over is not available at your residence during these times.
Can I use my own shipping carrier and/or account to save money?
Unfortunately, no because our shipping prices are all inclusive of professional packing in our climate-controlled wine storage facility using double-walled Styrofoam inserts in wine boxes designed for the size of your shipment. Our costs also include all costs for FedEx to pick up and deliver your wine to you and receive a signature in-person from someone aged 21 years or older. We charge our customers the same costs we are required to pay for these services--we do not profit on packaging and shipping, so you can expect that we pay exactly what you pay.
Can I place an order by phone?
Yes, you can call us at(209)677-7721 to place your order.
Why can't I order more than one case or 12 bottles in a transaction? The shipping calculator is limited to 12 bottles per order because of system limitations. For purchases of more than 12 different bottles/one case, please place separate orders for each 12 bottles to ensure accurate shipping calculation due to system limitations. Or if you prefer, call us at (209)677-7721 or email us at contact@darrahwines.com and we can enter your complete order into the system manually. Thank you for your understanding!
Can I ship wine to several addresses in a single transaction?
No, because shipping costs are calculated by the Zone that the wine is being shipped to and the number of bottles going to an address in a Zone. Therefore, you must place each order separately on our website for a given shipping address.
Can I pick up my package at your winery?
Yes, if you are located in the City of Los Angeles, California or in Lodi, California, we will be happy to arrange for you to pick up your wine from us directly. When checking out online, type in your shipping address in California and the "Winery Pickup (Los Angeles)" or "Winery Pickup (Lodi)" option will appear as   shipping option. Please select that option when checking out and provide any special instructions in the "Notes" field on the first check out page before placing your order. Once we process your order, we will contact you to arrange for you to pick up your wine.
Can I pick up my wine at a FedEx location at my own convenience?
If you have a specific FedEx location that you would like for us to ship to, please use the address of that FedEx office as your shipping address. Additionally, select the shipping option for Ship to Business Address (Zones 2-7) to receive the lower shipping rate.
How long will it take for you to process my order?
Our fulfillment center requires 24-48 hours to process your order and package your wine for shipping. Orders placed before 1PM Pacific time are often processed, packaged, and shipped by the next business day.
How do you package my wine to help ensure it arrives safely?
All of our shipments are professionally packed in our wine storage facility where your wine has been kept at optimal storing temperature from the day it was bottled. We use shipping boxes fitted with double walled Styrofoam inserts surrounding each wine bottle. During hot summer months, for any shipment of 6 or more bottles, we will pack cold packs into shipping boxes where the transit times will exceed 3 business days to ensure the wine maintains a cooler temperature during transit.
How are transit times calculated?
It the shipping time is indicated to take 4 business days from time it is shipped, that amounts to the 4th business day after FedEx receives the package from our warehouse.
If I have special shipping instructions, can I include them in my order?
Yes, please write any special instructions in the box marked "Notes" on the first page at Checkout.
Can I track my package?
Yes, we will email you your FedEx tracking number as soon as your wine is shipped.
Why does someone have to sign for my wine, can't they just leave it at my door?
No, because all alcohol shipments in the United States require that someone aged 21 years or older sign to receive the package to prevent and protect those under the legal drinking age from receiving alcohol.
Can I contact FedEx to arrange a delivery window?
Yes, you can call1-800-GO-FEDEXwith your tracking number we sent with your Order Confirmation email to discuss any additional delivery options that can offer you.
My wine was damaged during shipping, what do I do?
Please call us at(209)677-7721 or email us at contact@darrahwines.com with nature of the damage so we can advise you on next steps.
